Express Media is proud to announce that a new blog funded by The Myer Foundation will soon be up and running – Electioneering. Its aim? To cover the 2010 Federal Election the way young voters need it to be – free from political jargon and with a focus on the way the big issues affect young people.

Express Media is looking for 5 young writers from across Australia to be the voices of Electioneering. We’re looking for enthusiastic writers of any political persuasion with a passion for politics that can inspire dialogue within the Electioneering blogging community.

First things first –

As this is a blog designed specifically for young people, you must be under 25 to apply. You must be able to post at least twice a week throughout the months leading up to the election.

Writers will be paid $200 for their efforts.

You must be available for a full day of training workshops on July 24th 2010 which will be held in Melbourne (airfares will be covered by Express Media).

To apply –

Please send the following three things by Tuesday 13th July 2010 to Elizabeth Calwell at specialprojects (@) expressmedia (dot) org (dot) au:

1.A couple of lines telling us about yourself.

2. A writing sample of no more than 500 words on a recent event or issue in Australian Politics.

3. A brief paragraph outlining why you want to be involved in the project

The five best writers will be selected by Express Media and will be flown to Melbourne for the full day of training. During this time they will learn from experts in the field to equip them with all the skills they will need to cover the election.
